Obedience Invites Supernatural Favor
Understanding can wait, but obedience can’t. You will never understand some commands until you obey them first.
In Exodus 3:4, when God called Moses’ name, Moses answered, “Here I am!”
But after Moses found out what God actually wanted him to do, “Here I am!” quickly turned to “Who am I?” Who am I to do this thing you have asked me to do?
Moreover, God was asking Moses to have faith in God’s character. He responded, “I will be with you.” But the sign that Moses was really hearing God’s voice wouldn’t come until after Moses had already obeyed. God said, “This will be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you will worship God on this mountain.”
Only after he’d already obeyed would Moses receive confirmation that he’d done the right thing!
Obedience can make up for a lot of things you don’t understand. It can make up for a lack of education, opportunities, and connections. In fact, your obedience will propel you places that people who are a lot wiser and more discerning will be baffled by. Cultivate an immediate obedience to God’s voice, and you’ll be amazed at what obedience can do that human wisdom, intelligence, and understanding can’t.
The Lord is irresistibly drawn to your childlike faith and obedience. It’s like a magnet for his blessings. Obey without having to understand, and watch how favor, promotion, and understanding follow!
